The Most Thorough Carpet Cleaning Ever, Or It's FREE!
How To Maintain Your Carpet
Your carpet is one of the most expensive investments in your home. It is an aggravating and time consuming process to replace carpet, so it pays to protect your investment.
Carpets Function
Your carpet serves more than the function of comfort and beauty, but serves as the filter of the home. The carpet stores allergens into the lower fibers and keeps them from being re-introduced into the environment every time traffic walks by.
Carpet Cleaning Intervals
It is recommended to clean your carpet every 6-18 months. The majority of the soil in carpet is abrasive and detrimental to carpet fibers. Prolonged exposure to abrasive soils can permanently damage the carpet causing it to look dirty.
Basic Maintenance
Vacuuming is the best way to take care of your carpet between carpet cleaning intervals. You should vacuum your carpet at least twice a week, utilizing proper vacuuming technique. There are a couple of tricks to master proper vacuuming technique.
The proper technique for vacuuming is to set the correct vacuum height. The middle setting is the best setting for most carpet. This setting allows the brushes to just touch the top of the carpet fibers, which vibrates the fibers and loosens the particle soil so it can be vacuumed up. Many people seem to set the vacuum height to the lowest setting causing the brushes to be crushed and allowing for only minimal soil removal.
Also, if you have a vacuum that uses a bag you need to change it when it becomes somewhere between 25%- 50% full. Once the bag is between 25%-%50 percent full your vacuum has lost 80% of it's power.
Spots
As soon as you spill something it is imperative that you wipe it up. Wiping up does NOT mean rubbing the spot. The best way to remove a spot is to blot the area, i.e. put a towel down (non-dyed is best) and let it soak up the spot. Keep using cleaner towels until the spot is removed.
If you rub the spot it has the chance of becoming permanent and becomes known as a STAIN.

Spot Removal Guide
The obvious key to keeping spots from becoming stains is to remove
the spill as soon as possible. Caution: Natural fibers such as
cotton and hemp, etc. turn brown if exposed to excess amounts of
water.
Before attempting to treat a spot or stain with special chemicals,
please contact the manufacturer of the carpet or upholstery being
treated. You usually can find information via the internet.
Steps To Spot Removal
1. Remove the spill as soon as possible through the action of
blotting NOT rubbing. Do not use heat to dry the area where the
spill has occurred. Using heat to dry a spotted area can actually
transform a mild spot into a stain.
2. Try to carefully scrape away any solids first. Then blot the area
of the spill with a towel. A non-colored towel is recommended. The
goal is to not spread the stain.
3. Before applying any spotter it is important to carefully follow
the directions. Test the spotter you are going to use on an
inconspicuous area to make sure it will not damage the fiber or
cause color loss.
4. Apply your intended spotter working from the outside of the spot
towards the inside. This process keeps the stain from spreading.
Now, use a towel to blot the spot. You can also use a flat spoon to
strike the spot area to help break up the spot.
5. After using any spotting solution make sure to rinse it with
water. Blot up the remaining moisture with a dry towel.
